“The Nutcracker on Ice” — a Christmas theatrical and circus show for adults and children, coming to Portugal for the first time!

 

A thrilling combination of circus arts, figure skating and classical ballet, performed by the Wiener Stadtballett company.

A festive fairy tale for the whole family: a unique blend of ballet on ice and breathtaking circus artistry.

 

Star performers from Cuba and Mexico — winners of numerous international circus festivals, including Monte Carlo, Paris, Latina (Italy), Girona (Spain), and Zhuhai Hengqin Chimelong (China) — will present an exhilarating acrobatic show.

 

Experience a vibrant kaleidoscope of acts featuring professional figure skaters, circus acrobats on skates, gymnasts, cyclists, jugglers and balance artists. Every act is performed without safety equipment. More than 300 costumes and an immersive multimedia stage design with LED scenery create a spectacular and elegant production.

 

On Christmas Eve, Marie receives a nutcracker and a magical dancing figure from her mysterious uncle, Drosselmeyer. The house sparkles with lights and is filled with the scent of pine and cinnamon. Falling asleep beneath the Christmas tree with the nutcracker in her hands, Marie enters an enchanted dream: the tree grows to the sky, the clock stops, and the toys come to life, becoming characters in a magical story.

 

The show takes place on synthetic ice, an environmentally friendly material that does not require freezing, made using new artificial-ice technologies.

 

Following tremendous success in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria and Italy, “The Nutcracker on Ice” will be presented in Portugal for the first time!
